What I Do

A message from the Department of Shameless Self-promotion

The majority of my career has been spent as a CTO and lead programmer/architect for a technology services company in Lexington. Whether working as a lone wolf or as a member of development teams both large and small, I have been able to contribute materially to the success of many projects. I help businesses navigate the often confusing technology landscape to find human-centric solutions that compliment the way people actually work within their organizations.

In short: I can plan it, build it, deploy it, and support it.

Case Studies

Here's a sampling of the more notable recent projects with which I've been involved:

Gray Construction

As a company which consistently earns top tier rankings in a variety of categories, Gray Construction requires a web experience which communicates their commitment to detail, quality, and professionalism. While at Able Engine, I supervised the team responsible for delivering this experience in the form of a new responsive website. The site includes numerous features:

  • Adaptive design and HTML5/CSS3 layout
  • Drupal 7 content management system
  • Interactive, responsive UI components
  • Instant, persistent local filtering for large project gallery
  • Complex forms with conditional email routing
  • Integration with intranet site via data feeds and resource sharing

Louisville Gas & Electric/Kentucky Utilities

LG&E/KU needed a serious makeover for their company website. The existing site had grown into a sprawling mess of content and was confusing for customers trying to quickly access information and use forms. Able Engine took on the challenge and worked closely with the client to create a new vision for the company's Internet presence. I supervised the delivery team on the Able Engine side and contributed the overall front-end HTML, CSS, and Javascript architecture that formed the basis for the responsive Drupal theme. The new website was released in what one client representative later called the smoothest web project launch in the company's history.

  • Adaptive design and HTML5/CSS3 layout
  • Drupal 7 content management system
  • Complex forms with conditional email routing
  • Custom module allowing content and configuration replication between multiple environments and servers (development, staging, production)
